Ladies n gentlemen we would like to announce our first contest for you

What is sweet pool all about?

Yeash~Our next douinshi project would be focusing on sweet pool fandom, I believe some of you might not know what sweet pool is about, Sweet pool is the newest BL (boy’s love) game released by Nitro+Chiral on December 2008.

The main story will focusing on Sakiyama Youji, A second-year high school student from Catholic private institution, who just came back after he absent for several months due to illness.

After that day at school, strange, weird n scary stuff happened around him…..

For u guys who are not familiar with it, hopefully it can help while doing the research~

Contest Theme:

H2O~
Since the title was included " pool " word on it, the contest theme will be related with water~ you need to paint any activities or action that related with water or involved water.

It's not limited only on the pool. You can, example: draw some beach activities, rainy day event, washing cars with wet clothes, drowning, etc etc, Any specific mood is fine as well, wether you want to paint a happy situation, romantic mood or angst related etc etc, as long as there’s amount of water involve. And please just water, other liquids are not count(blood, etc)

What to paint:

You need to paint at least one character from Sweet Pool, multiple characters are preferable, focusing on some related pairing, group activities, etc etc, are allowed as well~ no cross over character from different series (eq; sweet pool X lamento, u will be disqualitied-3-)

Submission specifications:

-Deadline is February 1st

-Any kind of media, traditional, digital, vector, are accepted

-Winners will be ask for high 300DPI high res, so u better keep the original file.

-Must be original artwork, No screenshot, tracing, Line art coloring, Photo manipulation, etc! But using resources (stock, brushes etc) are allowed.

-I know this game was rates 18++ but please keep the rating to 15+, no hardcore stuff , light kiss still allowed

-Color artwork and BnW artwork are acceptable as long as it clean and visible.

-The entry must be new submission.

-Can do collaboration, but u must share the prize^^

-Maximum 2 entries per person

I got my first real nosebleed last night (11/08) while working on my doujin. I think I've overworked and pushed my body over the edge because in the last month, my works are piling and I can't seem to have time to rest properly (I always stay up very, very late, and sleep very little in the past month). And stress is also one of the reasons I have nosebleed...

Well, I'm a very optimist person, so I will never know if I'm stressed until my body starts screaming in protest. Like now, I just realized that in the past week I've lost 2kg and the final sign is the nosebleed. I was still doing layout for the doujin pages when I felt like I'm having a runny nose. I thought it was because of the cold weather, but when I wipe it with the back of my hand (gross, I know, I was just too lazy to find some tissues), it wasn't snot, it was blood. No wonder it's not thick and I kinda smell faint iron stench in my nose.

Geez, I gotta keep my shape up! Because it won't be funny if I'm sick before I go to Singapore, and cancel the trip... NOOOES!!!

How much do you think my drawing has changed? Even I was surprised myself seeing the final result of my doujin. If you buy and read it, I'm sure you can see that in those 40 pages, my drawings evolved bit by bit. _{(shameless self promotion)} But really, I mean it, my style now in this 9Lives doujinshi is different even with the last Kuroshitsuji doujin I've made just several months ago.

As I try to review what I have accomplished near the end of the year, I felt that my drawing has changed quite a lot in the past year. I've seen some of my fellow artists have changed also, they're getting way much better in a fast pace. Me, who always become a procrastinator, feel ashamed in my slow progress in drawing. I realized that I have small talent in drawing, I gain what I have today is by working hard for 18 years. My self improving pace is unbelievably slow, but there's times like this when I rapidly pace up my improvement. Try to think of it, it only happened 3 times (with now) in all my life. Usually, I go slump for months (even a year) before regaining my spirit to draw again and somehow got inspiration and improving quite fast.

But not only me who makes some visible changes, some of my digital artist friends are learning to color in semi-realistic way (makes me jealous, damn!) . I also tried to do that, but then again, I have very small talent and don't feel like I fit in it _{(not that I can't do it at all of course)} . So, in the end, I give it up and learn something else; anatomy. The thing I neglected in all my times making illustrations, and just realized by now that it's VERY important! I'll just do things one at a time, if my anatomy skill gets better, I'll try to learn more various things. ^^

In my life, I've seen people just give up drawing even though they're talented and better artist than myself in the past. Most of them are my friends. Along the way, I see that age, education, and (mostly) parents are in their way to become artists. Maybe I'd end up like that also, if I'm not hyperly persistent and won't give up easily hearing my old man ranting 24/7 for years about how lame drawing was and it's not worth a living. So much to say, eh? And I can throw those words right back at him now. Well, he's quite supportive now, seeing his daughter can make a living through 'just' drawing.

But y'know, I'm very thankful to my old man for not being supportive all those years. Why? Because I know that it's my nature to easily get bored. If he was supportive in the past, I might end giving up drawing a long time ago like some of my friends, working in some lame government office somewhere, and a person you know as 'Bayou' will never exist in this world.

Haha... Well, I truly live with no regrets with what I am today.
